Internship at an Archaeological Dig

Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at an archaeological excavation site. The site was located in a remote area, and we spent long hours carefully excavating ancient artifacts. On my first day, I was assigned to document newly unearthed pottery shards. I had to handle them delicately to avoid damaging their fragile surfaces. Over time, I learned to use various tools such as trowels and brushes to uncover buried structures. One of the most fascinating moments was when we discovered an ancient bronze mirror, which suggested that the site had been a settlement of historical significance. The lead archaeologist explained how each artifact could provide insights into the daily lives of people from centuries ago. Though the work was meticulous and physically demanding, I found it immensely rewarding. This experience deepened my appreciation for history and strengthened my desire to pursue a career in archaeology.
